農歷七月，盂蘭將近。街頭巷尾陰風(fēng)慘淡，鬼影幢幢，自是一番蕭索凄涼景象?；薨档男∠?，走來(lái)了在大陸經(jīng)商失敗的宗華 （張家輝 飾），他被朋友騙的傾家蕩產(chǎn)，更遭遇了人生苦痛的變故，所幸年事已高的父親接納了他。他的父親嘯天（林威 飾）是一家神功戲的班主，此時(shí)正組織團員們抓緊彩排準備為鬼神上演一年一度的大戲。誰(shuí)知在開(kāi)戲前嘯天突然病倒，而沒(méi)有任何經(jīng)驗的宗華臨危受命成為代班主。他手忙腳亂，難以服眾，多虧美麗花旦小燕 （劉心悠 飾）出手相助，二人似乎更借此生出好感。但是越臨近演出的日子，詭異恐怖的事件便越多。叛逆的妹妹突然轉性、小燕時(shí)冷時(shí)熱、一閃而過(guò)的毀容女子、自己跳樓的身影。
